Don’t Leave Without Seeing Each Other
不见不散(bú jiàn bú sàn) literally means “don’t leave without seeing each other”; in short it means “see you then” or “be there or be square” and is often used when you make an appointment with your friend. For example, let’s say you and your friends have decided to meet at 7 PM at a restaurant; you would then confirm the appointment with this “Meet you there at 7 PM, 不见不散 (bú jiàn bú sàn)!” See? It’s very useful. There is also a very famous Chinese movie called 不见不散 (bú jiàn bú sàn). It tells the story of two Beijingers working in Los Angeles whose paths constantly cross in this foreign city. They attempt to balance work with friendship and love in spite of mounting disasters which happen each time they meet. In this film, you can also hear a song named “Be There Or Be Square” which in Chinese is also called “不见不散(bú jiàn bú sàn)”. Have you watched this movie or heard this song? You should have a try with it. See you tomorrow on Daily Tidbit, 不见不散(bú jiàn bú sàn)!
